Best Wishes for a Magical Holiday Season
The holiday season brings so many wonderful opportunities to gather with the ones you love! This year, I will be having company visiting for the week before and after Christmas. My first thought was, how am I going to entertain and keep everyone busy and happy! So, scoured Facebook and Tour Cayuga’s Event Page and came up with a few ideas.
Ideas for Activities
‘Tis the season for holiday decorating. Keep the magic and wonder alive for your whole family when you visit the Festival of Trees at Ward O’Hara Agricultural Museum in Owasco. See more than 140 decorated trees in the spacious museum and vote on your favorite one! Don’t forget to look for the Tour Cayuga tree, the staff had a great time decorating it with a Hibercation Theme (hint: it’s tree #144 and it is in the tractor room).
Santa is in town every day now through Christmas Eve at Bass Pro Shops in Fingerlakes Mall, in Aurelius. Bring your children to visit the jolly man in red and receive a free photo to remember your special visit.
Experience a full Victorian Christmas at the Seward House Museum. Costumed guides lead candlelit tours of the home, which is decorated in holiday splendor, visitors learn about Christmas traditions of the Seward’s through heart-warming holiday memories shared from their letters and diaries. Reservations are required.
The Casey Park Ice Rink is open to the public throughout the winter on weekends. Bring your own skates or use theirs! Admission is $5.00 and includes a free skate rental. Always a fun family-friendly activity. After a few hours on the ice warm up with some hot cocoa at one of our local restaurants.
Ever want to try snowshoeing? Sterling Nature Center in northern Cayuga County has snowshoes that you can use for just a donation. The Center’s trails are open for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing all winter long, sunrise to sunset.
