Now in its third year, this grant program provides an opportunity for Cayuga County businesses and organizations to apply for funds to develop an event, activity, performance, or other program that is open to the public and provides education, entertainment, or inspiration surrounding Harriet Tubman\u2019s life and legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, these events offer unique and special opportunities to visitors and residents alike, and Tour Cayuga is looking forward to another year of great events celebrating Harriet Tubman\u2019s legacy and highlighting Black history in Cayuga County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the spirit of diversity, equity, and inclusion, the events proposed by applicants were required to <strong>both:<\/strong> 1) promote inclusivity in its participants and vendors, and 2) have a draw to regional visitation beyond the location\u2019s immediate area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCayuga County served as Harriet Tubman\u2019s chosen home for more than fifty years of her life,\u201d said Executive Director of Tour Cayuga, Karen Kuhl. \u201cThis grant and the events that it sponsors provide opportunities to honor her legacy. We are beyond proud to support so many incredible organizations working to ensure that Cayuga County continues to celebrate Harriet Tubman and her history here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grantees this year include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cayuga Community College &amp; the Cayuga Film Festival<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loves Worth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TomatoFest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Authentic Leadershift, LLC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seward House Museum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Howland Stone Store Museum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lavish Lounge Bar &amp; Restaurant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skaneateles Festival<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Harriet Tubman Liberation Foundation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Auburn Cayuga County NAACP<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Melody\u2019s Coworking &amp; Event Space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>aaduna, Inc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Booker T. Washington Community Center<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fair Haven Community Arts Center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Collectively, this year\u2019s 16 awardees received a total of nearly $30,000 to support their events. Congratulations to all!
